We are looking for a highly skilled Facilities Technician to join our team and ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of our facility. This role is crucial in supporting various systems and maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-functioning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain facility operations, including HVAC, lighting, compressed air systems, construction, plumbing, renovation, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Manage production support equipment such as DI-water systems, pumps, vacuum systems, filtration, air pollution control equipment, and wastewater treatment systems.
- Perform maintenance services including painting, patching, ceiling tile replacement, fluorescent lamp replacement, and light electrical and plumbing work.
- Assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Department with safety improvements, hazardous materials/waste services, and overall environmental compliance.
- Document the operational status of emergency equipment and complete machine maintenance logs on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and supplies, notifying appropriate personnel to replenish stock as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure operational and safety compliance, supporting organizational goals and objectives.
- Adapt to changing work environment demands, respond promptly to service calls and emergencies, and work ethically and respectfully with all employees.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to identify and resolve facility or EHS issues promptly, communicating effectively with the team and management.
- Continuously build knowledge and skills, sharing expertise with the team.
- Perform additional tasks such as non-hazardous and hazardous spill cleanup and assist the EHS department as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in using basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and custodial hand and electric-powered tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to receive and respond to work assignments effectively.
- Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written; ability to converse in Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and work from plans and operating instructions.
- Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards for facility upkeep.
- Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in keeping computerized records and preparing reports; able to use job-related computer software (email, work planning, time-keeping) effectively.
- Capable of working independently with limited supervision, interacting effectively with and quickly gaining the respect and support of facilities and museum staff.
- Interact professionally with various levels of staff, guests, and vendors.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s Degree or completion of a trade school program is highly preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, including maintaining the building’s interior and exterior.
- Experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
- Must be a US Person.
